UK-based Jane Crowther graduated in 1986 with an Honours degree in Illustration. Whilst based in North London, she designed a small range of greeting cards, initially selling them at craft fairs alongside her paintings. These first cards featured a cute little bug character with a plastic nose and wobbly eyes, and were initially hand-painted with the noses and eyes glued on by hand. As there was nothing else like them on the market, agents and distributors began to show an interest, and the orders started to roll in.
